Exploring the intersection of performance + technology
interplay_2026 invites artists working at the cutting edge of performance and technology to submit proposals for live online performances. We are seeking innovative works that challenge the boundaries of digital performance, including but not limited to dance, theatre, and hybrid performance art.
Live online performance refers to artistic works that are intentionally created or adapted for real-time presentation in digital spaces. These works exist at the intersection of performance, technology, virtual presence and is grounded in liveness: the ephemeral, co-present exchange between artist(s) and audience through an online medium.
This open call prioritizes experimental interdisciplinary performance and adventurous, innovative uses of digital platforms and technology.
Application deadline: April 21, 2025, at 11:59 PM (PT)
Presentation dates: January 8-11, 2026
Performance format: Shared-bill, live-streamed performances (10–30 minutes in length, with one or two presentations per work), either on Zoom or another platform of your suggestion. Projects may include a combination of live and pre-recorded elements, but must focus on the live components to be considered.
This call is open to artists of all abilities, at any career stage, from all disciplines, based in so-called Canada and internationally. We welcome proposals that explore new possibilities in live digital performance.
